Alex Raymond, RD, LD: Empowered Eating Dietitian
Alex is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who is passionate about empowering her clients to rebuild a positive relationship with food. She specializes anorexia, orthorexia, disordered eating in athletes, as well as bulimia and binge eating disorder. She enjoys working with kids, adolescents, young adults and athletes, as well as families. Alex is truly passionate about working with her clients to support them along their recovery journey. She has the expertise and the drive to find strategies for her clients to make positive changes. Alex’s compassion and understanding allows her to support her clients step-by-step in achieving their eating disorder recovery goals. She strongly believes that achieving “normal” and intuitive eating is possible with proper guidance and support, and she uses various innovative tools and strategies to support her clients in making steps toward this.
As a runner herself, Alex understands on both a professional and personal level how important proper fueling is and how difficult it can be for many athletes, especially when struggling with eating disorder thoughts. So, Alex runs the program Fueling For Athletes to support athletes, both professional and amateur, in learning how to properly fuel to reach athletic and sport goals.
Alex has been a part of the Empowered Eating team since 2012. In 2015, Alex started the Empowered Dining program, which she runs in both the Columbia and Greenbelt offices. She also co-leads quarterly support groups for loved ones of her clients with dietitian Bobbi Boteler, CEDRD, RD, LD. Alex regularly attends conferences and webinars to further her knowledge on eating disorder treatment.
